2nd Annual Fun Fall Fest

unnamed (1)FLORENCE-The 2nd Annual Fall Fun Fest is coming to downtown Florence with lots of candy and spooktacular games and prizes on Saturday, October 24th from 4pm until 8pm. Everyone is invited to trick or treat with participating downtown businesses, enter into the costume contest for all ages, and enjoy the free children’s activities presented by local non-profit organizations.

 

This year we’re also bringing along a new friend of Main Street, Bank Independent, our 2015 Fall Fun Fest Sponsor.  “Having Bank Independent join us this year as the sponsor of the Fall Fun Fest is a great honor” said Teryl Shields, Executive Director of Florence Main Street.  “They are so civically minded and do so many things for the community that it’s exciting to have them partner with us”.

 

“Florence Main Street is a strong supporter of downtown businesses, and we are thrilled to be a part of the Fall Fun Fest,” says Mickey McClure, Bank Independent SVP – Sales Officer and member of the Florence Main Street Executive Committee.

 

Fall Fun Fest features over 35 local charities providing FREE children’s activities like a Halloween Spin & Win Wheel, Tic Tac Toe with Spiderman, apple bobbing, and a Witch Hat Ring Toss and many others. All activities will be located on the 300 block of North Court Street and the 100 West block of Tombigbee Street.

The trick or treating locations are 116 E Mobile, Alabama Outdoors, Creative Jewelers, Court Street Market, Earthside, FloBama Music Hall, Frios Gourmet Pops, Grasshopper, GRL Boutique, Jack O’ Lantern Farm, Jimmy Johns, Karen’s Corner, Le Vintage Soul, Legends Steakhouse, Lyons HR (located on Mobile Street), Maple, Merry Blu Boutique, New York Life Insurance (located on Mobile Street), Rosie’s Mexican Cantina, Specs Downtown, Sperry’s Restaurant ( located on Mobile Street), Stained Glass Artistry, Surprise Store, The Chicago Café, and Wildwood Tavern.

In addition to trick or treating and the fun activities, there will be a costume contest for florence main streetall ages by categories of Under 2, Over 2/Under 5, Family, Cosplay or Homemade, Kids (ages 5 – 15), adults (ages 16 +), Groups, and UNA Students. The costume contest will be hosted and judged by members of The Geek Gathering. Registration to enter into the costume contest is between 3pm – 5pm. Main Street staff and volunteers will have tables set up for registration in the parking lot at the intersection of Pine & Tombigbee Streets. Individuals and groups may only register for the category you wish to WIN before 5pm! Judging will begin promptly at 5:15pm beginning with Under 2. Each age category will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes presented by the sponsors.

“Downtown Florence is ever-growing with unique events that invite the community at large to have a lot of fun! The Fall Fun Fest is one of those events. We love seeing children through adults dressing up in favorite costumes exploring downtown, collecting candy, playing fun games, and competing for prizes in the costume contest.” commented Christina Hernandez, Event Coordinator of Florence Main Street.

To wrap up the fun of the evening, the University of North Alabama, University Program Council is planning to have music on Mobile Street from 7-10pm.
