Mrs. Inez Gilliam
August 1, 1925 – December 19, 2015
Inez H. Gilliam entered this world on August 1, 1925 in Huntsville, Alabama, born to the proud parents, Green and Minnie Hereford, who preceded her in death. She lived a very blessed life.
She attended Council High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gilliam; two brothers, Robert Lee Hereford (Bro) and Charles Gus Hereford; three sisters, Nellie Mae Tuck, Elnora Morris and Willa Matthews.
Inez was a very hard worker. She worked for Ropers Flowers for 57 years. She was dedicated and often spoke of the times she spent there. Inez was a very loving and honest woman.
Inez was a faithful member of Saint Bartley Primitive Baptist Church since the age of 9. She cherished all the friendships and time she was able to spend there. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Her favorite saying was “If you hear of me gone, don’t worry about me because I will be able to see Jesus face to face.”
Inez always had a sense of hope and optimism despite any obstacles she had to face, there was always a smile.
Peacefully, Inez went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Reverend Dorice Douglas; two granddaughters, Latisha D. Glynn (Michael) and Latrice Douglas; one great granddaughter, Miracle Chamber; two great grandsons, Terrance Crews and Isaiah Douglas; a god daughter, Tonya Dumas; two best-friends, Corene Morris and Carrie Langford; sister-in-law, Wilma Louise Gilliam; two brothers-in-law, Virgile Gilliam (Leola) and Percy Gilliam.
Inez had a very loving and supportive family which included nieces, nephews, adoptive daughters and friends. This included the Tucks, Gilliams, Morris, Matthews, Hereford, Pughs, Davis and Perry Family, in addition to all extended families. She loved all of them.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the St. Bartley Primitive Baptist Church (3020 Belafonte Avenue NW, Huntsville, AL 35816). Interment will be in the Madison Memory Gardens. Mrs. Gilliam will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral service.
Public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 24, 2015 and 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Royal Funeral Home.
