Jean Nelson – Obituary

Jean Nelson went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2015. There to welcome her were her husband Paul, her parents James Lige and Cora Martin Nelson and her twin sister Jeanette Nelson White.

Jean was born on October 2, 1937 at Colbert County Hospital, Sheffield. She was educated in the Sheffield School System graduating from Sheffield High School in 1955. May 13, 1956 she married Paul Nelson. They were married fifty-two years. Jean was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Sheffield where she sang in the choir for over fifty years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Red Hat Society.

Survivors include daughter Lisa Forsythe and husband Don of El Mirage, AZ, grandson Geoffrey Wayne Williams, Sheffield, adopted grandsons John Pearson and Josh Jarmon, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her beloved Pug Percy.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April7, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church Sheffield with services following at 2:00 p.m. Chad Holder is officiating. Pall bearers will be James Bedsole, John Adams, John Pearson, Michael Ray, Lewis Patterson and George Russell.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to First Baptist Church for the love and care shown to Jean during her illness and especially to caregivers Kim Spears, Taylor Smallwood, BJ Sims, and Paula Fuller.
