TUSCUMBIA – The Coon Dog Cemetery Labor Day Celebration will be held on Monday, September 6, 2021. The annual event is held each Labor Day at the cemetery from 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. It is a day to gather and visit the final resting spots of champions and cherished pets. Coon hunters and friends alike meet to swap stories of their treasured hounds and the wonderful hunts they shared together.
There are events throughout the day that include a liar’s contest and a buck dancing contest. L.O. Bishop’s Barbeque will have meals available for purchase. There will be raffle items as well as other vendors set up for the day. Live music will be performed by the band Belt. Be sure to bring a chair and enjoy the all day festivities this Labor Day.
“The festival is a long standing tradition in our area,” said Susann Hamlin, President of the Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau. “This is a great time for friends and family to gather together, enjoy some great food, and to hear some tall tales from the Liar’s Contest.”
The Coon Dog Cemetery is located at 4945 Coondog Cemetery Road, Cherokee. For more information, call the Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau at 256-3830783 or email ColbertTourism@comcast.net.
