DECATUR-Decatur Morgan County Tourism and Alabama Bass Federation, Inc., (ABF) announces that ABF 2021 Al Redding State Championship Tournament will be held September 10-11, 2021, on Lake Wheeler in Decatur, Ala. ABF anglers and co-anglers have competed for the opportunity to participate in the state tournament by fishing ABF’s 2021 qualifying tournaments. Official practice days for the event are September 8-9, 2021.

The tournament will launch from Ingalls Harbor each day of the event at safe-light and weigh-in will start at 3:00 p.m. Daily launches and weigh-ins are free and open to the public. One hundred thirty-eight ABF members throughout the State of Alabama have qualified to fish the event. State tournament competitors are competing for the opportunity for advancement to The Bass Federation (TBF) District 4 semi-finals and national tournaments.

Each tournament season ABF conducts four qualifying tournaments and a state championship tournament. These events are conducted at various locations within Alabama. To participate with the ABF, tournament trail anglers/co-anglers must be an active member of an ABF Club and the TBF.

“Wheeler Lake is no stranger to the ABF,” said President Jim Sparrow. “Over the years, we have brought various qualifiers as well as our state tournament to Decatur and the exceptional bass-fishing quality of Wheeler Lake never disappoints us. We look forward to Decatur Morgan County Tourism and the city of Decatur hosting another first class event for our anglers.”

The ABF is one of the 47 states and international federations that make up the amateur arm of TBF. Alabama is one of the largest state federations with members in clubs across the state, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. Alabama Federation members are grass roots anglers, dedicated to the future of bass fishing. We promote “catch and release” and are very protective of the natural resources surrounding our sport.
