Andreas (Andy) B. Hansen – Obituary

andreasAndreas (Andy) B. Hansen died Sunday August 17. Born in Chester PA to Andreas and Ruth Neidt Hansen, he was raised in Oxford, PA. After graduating from high school, Andy served a year in the Navy, followed by a year at Penn State, and a year of school at Bliss Electrical School. Andy began his career at the Gary Indiana Steel Mill, then moved to Cleveland Ohio where he worked for GM Diesel Electric Locomotive Co. In 1952 he moved to Columbus Ohio where he worked for North American Aviation, moving up to senior flight test instrumentation engineer. His two children, Knute and Holly, were born in Columbus. In 1964 Andy and his family moved to Huntsville, where he worked for IBM as a component responsible engineer. In 1981 he began working for North American Rockwell, retiring from Rockwell in 1987. Andy had many skills and talents. Using his knowledge and skills in automotive work, plumbing, welding, electrical and carpentry work, he designed and built two campers, a solar collector, planters for his beloved garden, and made many home and yard improvements. Two of his favorite pastimes were gardening and spending time at the family cottage in Delaware. Andy is survived by his daughter: Holly; her husband: Drew, and two grandchildren: Adam and Noah. Private services will be held at a later date. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
