The incident occurred on December 23 2012, on the Reservation between Woodward Ave. and Wilson Dam rd.

The former Muscle Shoals police officer’s criminal hearing has been set for today. Scoggins with his two Attorneys, Billy Underwood and Jonnie Franks, plan to take this case to federal court; Saying that the crime occurred on

federal land, so it should be a federal case.

The first officer to take the stand against his former college was Sergeant Cedric Morris, who has been an officer for 21 years, identified photos of the said deer saying it was in the back of a red Dodge truck. Morris also identified a hand written letter, claiming the letter was written by Scoggins confessing to killing the deer on the TVA reservation land.

Next up on the stand was Capt. Clint Reck, and claimed that Moore said that he actually saw the deer. A large portion of Reck’s claims (Two bullet shells) were thrown out of court due to incorrect procedures while handling evidence.

Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans also took the stand against Scoggins, but during the cross examination by Underwood he was asked the peculiarly ironic question “What about the Turtles?”

The Chief then went on to say that the MSPD has been given authority to shoot wild animals within city limits, but could not fully answer whether or not they had jurisdiction over the TVA reservation land.
