SHEFFIELD – The nationally recognized brand, Jameson Inn, will be taking the place of the property formerly owned known by the name Emerald River Hotel.

According to General Manager, Phil Pezzuto, the new owners have spent approximately $600,000 during the current renovation session, and plan on another using another $3 million for future Emerald River Hotelrenovations.

Currently the lounge and restaurant are under renovation, and a large percentage of the rooms have been completed. Once the lounge has been deemed ready, there will be a happy hour with free food, a ladies night, and on the weekends live entertainment with Sundays featuring music from the 40’s and 50’s.

Pezzuto told The Quad-Cities Daily he plans will also be a monthly comedy night, which can accommodate 300 people.

This is planned to be a success because not everyone is able to afford the more expensive hotel chains. The tourism bureau also believes the Shoals needs a good mid-priced hotel that is able to accommodate such events as conventions, conferences and banquets.

Pezzuto says that Jameson, which used to have a presence with the Shoals, is an important asset to the property.”When they left Florence several years ago,” he added, ” it opened up a hole in Jameson’s map of properties, and we believe that this area will respond positively to this brand.”

The Jameson Inn is also offering up to 58 rooms on the rear wind of the property that will be made available as student housing. The rooms are expected to be priced similarly to the price of dorm-style housing in the Shoals. It is expected to be attractive to students because it’s private bathrooms, and the televisions and telephones that will be provided in the rooms. The hotel is will also be offering a meal program to the student residents.
