close up_MG_6889FLORENCE – Giles McDaniel calls it, “The Incubator Advantage”. Folks at the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) agree. That’s why they hold the Shoals Entrepreneurial Center in such high regard.

Tuesday, representatives of ARC and the National Business Incubation Association were in Florence to present City and business leaders with a new book, “The Best Practices of Rural Business Incubation.” In the book, the Shoals Entrepreneurial Center is mentioned prominently as an example of what a successful business incubator can do for a community – particularly in a small, rural area.

.

The Shoals Entrepreneurial Center is credited for creating more than 1,500 jobs in our area since it’s inception in 1992. According to a study in the book, the Center’s client businesses generate nearly $70-million in annual revenues and more that $10-million in state and local taxes.

The Quad-Cities Daily (a company that was started at the Shoals Entrepreneurial Center) was on hand to take photos of the event, held at the Culinary Center.
