Tuskegee Airmen Return to Russellville

RUSSELLVILLE – The Russellville Airport Authority and Blue Diamond Aviation located at Russellville Municipal Airport, 13365, Highway 243 (off Highway 24 East) in Russellville, Alabama will host an Open House and Armed Forces Day program of fun; meeting Tuskegee Airmen military heroes and entertainment on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

p51 at russellville airport Events beginning with the Glory Hill Half Marathon Run (07:00 a.m.), followed by the Nautical Mile Fun Run (09:00 a.m.), fund raising activities whose proceeds will assist soldiers and their families in the local area and Hope for the Warriors foundation will be followed by featured guest speaker Dr. Daniel Haulman, Organizational History Division Chief at the U.S. Air Force Historical Research Agency, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama at 2:00 p.m.

His extensive research with co-authors Joseph Caver and Jerome Ennels (Air Force Research Agency archivists) and presentation of Tuskegee Airmen military history, training and missions will bring the fascinating story of the Airmen in his new book, “The Tuskegee Airmen an Illustrated History: 1939-1949,” to life.

Activities following the presentation will include a book signing; Meet and Greet the Tuskegee Airmen, entertainment, facilities to entertain the children and vendors to purchase food.

The American Legion Post 31 Color Guard of Tuscumbia; Cub Scouts Pack 39 of Russellville and St. Paul CME Church Gospel Choir directed by Ms. Danielle Hillman will be present.

The all-day Open House event is free and open to the public.
