Florence Flood Waters Recede

Florence floodingFLORENCE-At 10 a.m. Thursday morning, the stage at which the water set at was 20.6 and continues to fall. This flood resembles the flood Florence experienced in May of 2010, which had a crest of 21.2 feet.

Minor flooding has taken to the streets. Alabama State Highway 20 is flooded at the underpass below U.S Highway 72. The road has been closed due to water covering it. The flood warning affecting Colbert and Lauderdale counties will continue until late Friday night. According to Tennessee Valley Authority, the Marina at McFarland Park will experience a lot of flooding near the soccer fields and the golf course.  The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by late tomorrow afternoon.
