MOULTON-The Hatton eighth-grader, Alison Martin, remains in critical condition since her accident Tuesday according to Huntsville Hospital. The collision with the 18-wheeler occurred on Alabama 157, approximately nine miles from the west side of Moulton, took place just south of the intersection at Alabama 101.

Lawrence County Schools superintendent, Heath Grimes, visited the hospital where Alison is in the Neurological wing of the intensive care unit. Grimes reports, there has been no change in her condition.

The wreck also left Alison’s sister, Caitlyn, who was 17, dead at the scene. Alison and Caitlyn who was a Hatton High School Junior, are the only two children of Matt and Tara Martin. Caitlyn was a member of the Hatton Church of Christ, the youth groups there held a prayer service in her honor on Wednesday, and many students decided not to attend school in order to take part in the prayer service.

The Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood stated that it was about 7:40 in the morning as Caitlyn was pulling out of the gas station, when the 18-wheeler hit the driver’s side door. The force of the truck colliding with the car, pushed the vehicles across the median into the a bank of dirt on the east side of the road.

A fund for Caitlyn’s memorial has been created, the donations can be made at all Listerhill Credit Union locations.

The funeral for Caitlyn will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday the 5th, at the Hatton Church of Christ.
