James Clayton “J. C.” Marlar, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Marlar was a faithful member of Crossway Church in Corinth. He was a 100% Disabled U. S. Army Veteran of WWII. He enjoyed gardening and antique cars. J. C. also loved his pets, especially his special dog, L. O. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Haskell Sparks and Cpt. Kacey H. Reed, U.S. Army. Entombment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Marlar Spears and husband, Richard, of Iuka, MS; two grandchildren, Kacey Reed and wife, Ashley, of Horn Lake, MS, and Brook Wright of Corinth, MS; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robby Marlar; his parents, Tom and Carrie Curtis Marlar; a brother, Varnell Marlar; and the mother of his children, Agnes Marlar Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossway Church in Corinth, MS.
