Robert Lee McDonald, Jr. “Bud” born Aug 31, 1925, died April 26, 2013.

Bud McDonald, a life-long resident of Lauderdale county, Alabama, and surrounding counties, died on April 26, 2013, at Coyote Creek Farm. He attended school at Gilbert, Rogers, and Central as well as trade school at Auburn University to become a welder.
Mr. McDonald served in World War II in a Navy commando unit from 1943-1946. He worked as an iron worker and welder for Reynolds from 1957-1991, when he retired. He was a former member at Mt. Zion Church of Christ and was currently a member at Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
In 1946, Bud married Ruby Brown and had one son, Jerry Lyn, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Hazel Bergob in 1995, and she preceded him in death as well. Also preceding Mr. McDonald in death were his father, R.L. McDonald, his mother, Ethel England McDonald and his sister, Lora Mae McDonald Pruitt.
He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Emily Cox McDonald, three grand-daughters, Deanna Montgomery, Robin Thompson, and Brook Holt along with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a step son, Tommy Bergob and his wife, Theresa, and a step daughter, Beth Dutton and her husband, Tom. Other survivors include Faye McDonald Sledge, a cousin, and Margaret Pruitt Ridings, a niece, as well as a number of step grandchildren. He is also survived by his special friends, Anne and Billy Underwood and Laura Blevins who will miss him very much. Many people were so good to Bud while he was ill; his special care givers were Tika Crowden, Dorothy McCish, and Judy Wisdom.
Visitation for Mr. McDonald will be at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence on Sunday evening, April 28 from 6-9; Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Church of Christ on Monday, April 29 at 10 a.m. The body will lie in state from 9-10 at Mt. Zion. Officiating will be Robert Huffaker and Barry Gilreath, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military funeral honors. Pall bearers will be Tom Bergob, Tom Burton, Michael Matthews, Charles Watkins, Steve Abston, and Chris Nester.
