“This is historic legislation, and it’s time to right this wrong,” Governor Bentley said.  “I want to visit Scottsboro in-person and stand together with the men and women who have worked so hard to clear the names of the Scottsboro Boys.”

Plans are currently being finalized for a ceremonial signing in Scottsboro next Friday, April 19.  Media will be advised of final plans at least 24 hours in advance of the ceremony.  In accordance with bill signing requirements, an official copy of the legislation will be signed ahead of the required deadline to enroll the bill.  Governor Bentley will be in Scottsboro for the ceremonial signing in order to visit the community and recognize the efforts of those who have worked to see pardons ultimately approved for the Scottsboro Boys.
