Catherine Marie Chambers Fortin passed on May 31, 2023. She was 65 years old. Cathy was born in Baton Rouge, LA on November 18, 1957, to John L. Chambers and Mary Somers Chambers. She was the youngest of five children, and in 1959, the family moved to Huntsville. After graduating from Huntsville High School, Cathy attended the University of North Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She worked at ERC on Redstone Arsenal and was a profound patriot and supporter of the military and space industry. A longtime resident of Piedmont neighborhood, Cathy was loved by all for her kind and generous spirit. She always showed unwavering love for her children, grandchildren, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Steven Somers Fortin. Survivors include her brother and sisters, John William Chambers, Claire Chambers Baker, Patricia Chambers Hughes, and Diane Chambers Shipper; son, James Lucien Fortin (Ellen Segrest Fortin); daughters, Mary Catherine Lee (Ashley Randolph Lee) and Anne Marie Cadman (Jeremy Alan Cadman); four grandchildren, Matthew Harris Lee, Rachel Lynn Lee, Abigail Clay Fortin, and Jameson Lucien Fortin; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday June 6, 2023, at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church on Jefferson St. in Huntsville, followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. There will be a family-only graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery.
A celebration of her life will take place after the service at Huntsville Country Club on Oakwood Ave. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please come by and celebrate with us.
