TUSCALOOSA – University of Alabama’s Board of Trustees has just unanimously voted to name entrepreneur and former Crimson Tide player Bill Battle, Athletics Director. Battle is the hand-picked successor to Mal Moore, who stepped down from his historic tenure earlier this week.
Here is what Moore had to say in a statement that was released by the University, “When it became apparent that I was no longer going to be able to direct the athletics department, I felt that Bill Battle was the one person who could sustain all the good things that have happened the past few years while also moving us forward with planned improvements.” Moore, 73, who has been suffering some health problems recently, resigned earlier this week.
