Jean Gentry Mangrum, 87, of Franklin, Tennessee, truly went to her reward
Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
Miss Jean, as known to many, was born in Triune, Tennessee to Minnie
Eugenia Green Gentry and Elliott Brown Gentry on April 12, 1935. She
attended Franklin High School and married her high school sweetheart,
James Vance Mangrum on February 24, 1956 in Franklin, Tennessee. Miss
Jean’s work life focused on assisting people with their finances. In her
younger years she worked at First Franklin Federal Savings and Loan, later
she sold insurance and helped people invest for their future.
Miss Jean’s faith was the guiding light of her life. She most recently
attended Franklin Church of Christ after enjoying 30 years at Brentwood
Church of Christ. Most of Miss Jean’s life focused on her natural family and
her church family. The other great passion in Miss Jean’s life was eating.
She relished good southern food. When she could enjoy a fine spread with
those she loved, Miss Jean had a little taste of Heaven right here.
Jean Gentry Mangrum is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years,
Vance Mangrum; father, E.B. Gentry; mother, Eugenia Gentry; sisters
Catherine Foster and Martha Waggoner.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Lynne McAlister (Tony); Scott Mangrum
(April); brother, Charles Gentry; sister Mary Ruth Herbert; grandchildren,
Jedidiah Mangrum and Judah Mangrum.
