NW-SCC to host over 120 high school students in annual Career Tech Skills Challenge

Welding students competes in the 2022 Career Skills Challenge on the Shoals Campus

MUSCLE SHOALS – Over 120 local high school students will demonstrate their skills in the annual welding competition and salon and spa skills competition this Friday, March 24, on the Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) Shoals campus.

 

The welding competition will feature four contests: 7018 (stick welding), 6010 (stick welding), Flux-Core (wire welding), and Torch. Each school will be divided between Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit, Non Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit, and Agriculture department students. Judges for the competition will consist of business and industry partners. The Salon and Spa skills competition will feature four contests: Cosmetology Hair Design, Men’s Hair Design, Nail Art Design, and Esthetics Fantasy Design.

Cherokee High School, Colbert Heights High School, Colbert County High School, Collinwood High School (TN), Florence High School, Franklin County Career Technical Center, Haleyville High School, Hardin County High School (TN), Lawrence County Career Technical Center (AL), Lawrence County High School (TN), Limestone County Career Technical Center, Muscle Shoals Career Academy, Russellville High School, Tanner High School, Wayne County High School (TN), Winston Career Academy.

 

The Salon and Spa and Welding programs at NW-SCC are designed to develop the skills necessary to enter and maintain a job in their respective fields. They are equipped with industry standard equipment and facilities to provide training for new students or professionals who need to enhance their skills.
