Joyce Hamilton Stallcup

Joyce Hamilton Stallcup, 82, of Huntsville, AL, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023. Joyce was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and after graduating from Auburn University in 1963, she taught elementary school for 27 years. She was heavily invested in leading Girls in Action (GAs) and participating in Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) at First Baptist Church, Huntsville Women’s Club, and in her teachers sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma. She regularly volunteered for Huntsville Assistance Program (HAP) and loved meeting with a birthday group of dear friends from First Baptist Church. Joyce’s faith in Christ was rock solid from the time she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 14. She loved her church and loved her family. She was a patient, loving, and long-suffering wife and a loving aunt, stepmom, and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her gentle spirit and steel-trap memory.

 

Survivors include husband, Vernon Leon Stallcup; sons, Phillip Stallcup (Felecia) and Stephen Stallcup (Allison); grandchildren, Eric (Kelly), Ryan, Henry and Bo; brother, Bruce Hamilton; and nephews, Alan Hamilton, William Hamilton and Mark Hamilton

 

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the chapel of First Baptist Church, Huntsville. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Travis Collins and Rev. Mark Seanor officiating. Afterward, family will attend a graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church Missions.
