Northwest-Shoals softball game recap for the week ending March 11

MUSCLE SHOALS & PHIL CAMPBELL – The Northwest-Shoals Patriots softball team went 2-2 in four games in Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) play during the week of March 6-11. 
Coach Angel Brown’s team was swept in a March 6th doubleheader at Marion Military Institute, 9-0 and 12-4. 
In the opener, Katie Dawson and Jade Roberson had one hit each, and Carley Hunter drew a walk as Patriot batters were stifled by Marion Military pitcher Kinley Bolton, who threw a complete game shutout. 

In game two, the Patriot offense came alive for four runs. NW-SCC took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Tigers plated three

in the bottom of the first. 

Madalyn Scott went 2-3 with a double, RBI and run scored to lead the Patriots’ offensive effort. Dawson (1-3) and Brooklyn Owens also had one RBI a piece for NW-SCC. 
The Patriots returned home March 11th for an ACCC doubleheader with Calhoun Community College. NW-SCC swept both games, winning 4-3 and 4-0. 
In game one, Taylor Cameron threw 6.1 innings, giving up six hits, three earned runs and nine strikeouts. Owens got the final two outs to preserve the win for the Patriots. 
The Patriots’ offense was paced by Chloe Handley, who went a perfect 3-3 with a double, walk, RBI with two runs scored. Alyssa Brown and Scott each had RBI hits and Scott drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. 
Brown (2-3) and freshman Emily Ahonen (2-3) also had multi-hit games for the Patriots. 

Brown averages .429 for the week to lead the team

In game two against Calhoun, Mycala Mitchell threw a complete game gem, going seven innings yielding only three hits with three strikeouts and 26 batters faced. 

Mitchell received offensive support from Brown (2-2), Courtney McGraw (2-3, double, RBI) and Kailey Armstrong (1-3, two RBI, sacrifice fly). 
Brown nominated Alyssa Brown for ACCC Player of the Week. In four games, Brown batted .429 for the week to lead the team.
