Raymond Mulcahy of Huntsville AL passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital. Ray was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 3, 1946, to the late William and Catherine Mulcahy. He was predeceased by his brothers, Mike and Rick. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carolyn Mulcahy; his daughters, Erin Glassman (Steve) of Antioch IL, Cortney White (Matt) of Bradenton FL, and Casey Mulcahy of Glenview IL and their mother, Barbara Deuel; stepsons, Jeff Nimblett of Lillian AL and Scott Nimblett (Angie) of Huntsville AL; his grandsons, Tyler, Ryan, Collin and Kyle Glassman and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Nimblett and her mother, Deidra Nimblett. Ray will be missed by his extended family.

After being drafted into the US Army in 1966, Ray attended OCS and helicopter flight school. He went on to serve his country for 25 years in various positions retiring from Redstone Arsenal in 1991. After leaving the military he worked for DOD contractors for an additional 15 years. During this time he trained to be an EMT and firefighter and served his community as a volunteer for 18 years. Ray and Carolyn volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Huntsville. They enjoyed working together one ski season in Utah and two summers in Alaska. Ray loved nature and the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, biking, skiing and boating. Many family members enjoyed more than three decades of summer family vacations at Tims Ford Lake. Ray volunteered at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge and took several trips to follow the sandhill crane migration. His love of travel took him to many places including Ireland, the Far East, Australia, Iceland, Norway, the Galapagos Islands and Antarctica.

The family plans a celebration of life at a later date. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite local charity.
