Lois George Hargrove Lois (George) Hargrove of rural Ardmore, AL died in her home on March 16, 2023 at 78 years of age.

Lois was born November 1, 1944 to Homer and Nettie (Cannon) Smith. She attended Ardmore High School and Calhoun Community College.

Lois worked at Redstone Arsenal for 30+ years before retiring in 2009. She was especially proud to be on the team that built part of the International Space Station.

After her retirement, Lois enjoyed working on her farm, planting flowers, picking wild blueberries and doing all of her own yardwork. She also found time to make rag quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and their spouses.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, brother Freddie Smith, and special friend James Collins. She is survived by her sister, Glenda Gray, son Randy (Lisa) George, daughter Christy (Thom) Blade, and Keith (Jennifer) George, grandchildren Bridget (Allen) Young, Dylan Blade, Hayley (Matthew) Colonna, Steven (Jessica) George, Alston (Samantha) George, Bryanna (Chris) Fagan and Zac (Sloan) Free and great-grandchildren Jared Free, Bradley George, Aubree Fagan, Stella Free and Remy Colonna.

Pallbearers will be: Glenda Gray, Alston George, Zac Free, Dylan Blade, Matthew Colonna, and Steven George.

Visitation for Lois will be held at the Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, AL on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 3:00 PM with service at 4:00 PM and burial at Gatlin Cemetery immediately following.

Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
