Richard Leon Davis Profile PhotoRichard “Ricky” Leon Davis, age 72, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, in Columbia, Tennessee.

Ricky was born on November 11, 1950, to the late Leon and Elizabeth Morgan Davis.

He attended school at Hay Long. He was a member of the FFA. He played softball and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club. He loved going to flea markets, collecting Tonka Toys, selling chickens, and hunting dogs. He spent a lot of time hunting up until his health declined. He was the proud owner of Richard Davis Trucking Co. and enjoyed being on his CB radio and gained the nickname “Cherry Picker”.  He traveled to Nashville for many months hauling different products. He traveled to several places in Alabama hauling gravel and sand to their destinations.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Carolyn (Donald) Paul, Cleon (Bobby) Clayton, Janet Norman, Sheila (Donald) Ledford, Debby Fitzgerald; several nieces, nephews; great-nephews, great-nieces; great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by a sister: Jane Fetherling; brothers-in-law: Dennis Ray Fitzgerald, Stanley Norman; and nephew: Kenneth Norman.

He made many friends at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab, and a special friend, Connie Alley.

The family wishes to thank all the nurses and doctors at Maury Regional Hospital, Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab for their care, also to Caris Health Care for hospice.

A visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM. Pastor Tim Paul will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery. The family will serve as pallbearers.

The care of Mr. Richard L. Davis and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Williams Funeral Home.
