Shelia Barrett, 72, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at her residence. Mrs. Barrett was born on November 9th, 1950, in Athens, AL to R.C Ferguson and Helen McLemore Rushing.
Shelia is survived by her son Stephen Usery (Allison); daughter Deela Usery Hicklen (Lee); grandchildren Christian Usery, Elizabeth Usery Mixon (Garrett), Matthew Usery, Jesse Hicklen, and Hadley Hicklen, sisters Sharon Bevel (Ron), Joan Norris, and Ginger Ferguson: along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and son Michael Wyatt.
Mrs. Barrett went to Athens High School, and after being a housewife decided to work at SCI in Huntsville. After working at SCI for a few years, she decided to move with her son Michael to Fort Walton Beach, FL. Where she furthered her education by taking some college classes and worked at some of the best hotels in FL. After some time, Shelia decided to move back home to Huntsville and to get her CNA license. She loved taking care of her patients and they loved her. After she retired, she enjoyed getting to visit her family and friends more. Shelia loved working in her flower garden, loved people, loved to be laughing and attending family get togethers. Sheila loved Christmas! Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior.
Funeral services for Shelia will be Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, at 11:00am at Huntsville Memory Gardens, with her son and grandsons officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00-10:30pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Christian Usery, Matthew Usery, Jesse Hicklen, Lee Hicklen, and Stephen Usery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Mixon and Hadley Hicklen.
