James Troy Gentle

James Troy Gentle, 81 passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at The Meadows in Fulton, MS.  He was born in Tishomingo County, MS to Jesse and Hazel McCoy Gentle.  He was a born again Christian and was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a carpenter for many years and was retired from Tiffin Motor Homes cabinet department.  He loved rabbit hunting with his beagles and spending time with his family.  He served in the National Guard.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 5, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Scot George, Bro. Cale George, Bro. Barrett Griffin and David Minnis officiating.  Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his daughter, Liesa and Scot George; his grandchildren, Noelle and Barrett Griffin and Cale and Claire George and he was Papaw James to Creed, Cutter, Caroliese and Calla James.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Elwanda Pounders Gentle; his parents; one sister, Oneida McCoy; his brother, Joyce Gentle; father and mother-in-law, Breatis “E.B.” and Claudie Pounders and two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Oakley Griffin.

Pallbearers will be Scot George, Cale George, Barrett Griffin, David Minnis, John McDougal and Eudell Crane.  His great-grandchildren will follow their Papaw James to the gravesite with long stem roses to place on his grave.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
