bootsFLORENCE-The American Cancer Society (ACS) and Regency Square Mall have joined forces again on Saturday, March 23 from Noon until 3pm in Zales Court to honor those loveable green-haired ladies, the “Kudzu Queens” with the 2nd Annual Kudzu Queens Kickin’ Cancer Event. Who are the Queens –we’ll let them explain: “We are a group 2 the kissgroup of Better than Best Friends who have fun raising money for the American Cancer Society. You see, under our green hair and tiaras, are a group of dedicated volunteers who make up the Kudzu Queen Relay for Life team. Look for us EVERYWHERE as we beg, plead, sell our handmade crafts or whatever we can do to bring in the money!” Many of these wonderful women are cancer survivors, caregivers to family or friends with cancer and/or suffered the loss of a dear one to cancer. They function as a support group for one another and also provide support and hold fundraisers for those with cancer or recently diagnosed. They are unique, caring individuals – collectively, they are a force to be reckoned with in the most positive way, and all of their fundraising proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

bluegrassThere will be more than 20 booths related to cancer services, support, information, volunteer opportunities and just about anything you can think of to help with cancer awareness; handmade crafts by the Kudzu Queens will be on display and for sale! You can drop by the “Kissing Booth,” and a “Cancer Kickin’ Tire”.  Chick-fil-A will also have a Spirit Day in honor of the event with a portion of sales between Noon-3pm going to the ACS. This year, we are adding Relay for Life Team booths and live entertainment by the award-winning Bluegrass group from Danville, AL, Grassy Divide. Rumor has it the Queens might also have an entertainment surprise in store for all of us! We’re dedicating this day to promote Cancer Awareness and “Kickin’ Cancer“! Not only is Regency Square Mall dedicating March 23rd as “Cancer Awareness Day”, but every Mayor in the Shoals has “Proclaimed” March 23rd as “Cancer Awareness Day” in their cities, so spread the word!

Join us in Center Court at Regency Square Mall on March 23rd for this fun and informative event…you may just learn something that could help you or someone you care about!
