Tony Anthony Hasting  Tony Anthony Hasting, 71, of Prospect, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his home.

Tony was the son of the late John W. Hasting and Mabel Harris Hasting.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Tony was a 1969 graduate of East Limestone High School where he would participate in basketball, football, and Track and Field. He competed in the 100 – yard dash where he was undefeated, as well as the 220 and the 440 relay.

He started his professional career as a salesman for Otasco where he would receive the “Top Salesman” Award in 1979 for his outstanding performance. He would then go on to dedicate 23 years of service to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department. From humble beginnings as a road deputy, he would eventually help create and lead the first Drug Task Force. Later in his career, he would serve as Chief Investigator as well as Captain. He was awarded the Alabama Police Officer of the Year in 1986. He worked hard for his community doing a job he loved and respected all the way up until his retirement in 1999.

After retirement, Tony enjoyed spending his free time gardening, fishing, as well as spending quality time with his friends and family. In 2013, Tony purchased a farm in Prospect, Tennessee. His free time was soon consumed with daily chores such as cleaning, bush-hogging, and generally working around the farm. In 2018, Tony and his wife Sonia moved off the grid and into a small cabin while they built their forever home on top of a hill with a beautiful view that God led him to find. He spent the remainder of his years there with the family he loved by his side.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty McDonald.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia Hasting, brother, Wayne (Sabrina) Hasting, children: Alisha Green, Melodi (Nathan) Tyler, Stacey (Sandie) Hasting, Corey (Brittany) Hasting, Tyler Hasting, Jereme (Miranda) Robison, Jared (Emily) Robison, and Cameron Williams, grandchildren: Garret Green, Neeci Tyler, Shaeli Tyler, Isaiah Hasting, Isaac Hasting, Zoey Hasting, Cade Robison, Brynn Robison, Jax Robison, Sara Clark Robison, and Harrison Williams.

There will be a Visitation and Memorial Service held in Tony’s honor at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama on Friday, February 3, 2023, with Visitation beginning at 4:00 PM and the Memorial Service to start at 5:30 PM. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
