Known to many as “Mama C” Carol Sue Chamberlain was one unique, elegant, and charming lady. Someone once said that if you had friends you had known for over 20, 30, 40 years that you were a true friend and that was Ms. Carol Sue Chamberlain, personified. Her legacy is her many friends stretching far and wide – from the people she’d empty out the items in her purse to give them the purse, a ring, or shoes they complemented her on – to well-known celebrities and political figures who found her to be captivating. She even befriended an ex-husband’s mistress and after his death they became very close friends, for life! Her narratives were many and everyone loved hearing her myriad of stories about the people she knew and adventures she had throughout her life. Carol’s smile was contagious, and her genuine kindness endeared many throughout her life. Recently a friend put it so sweetly when she said (about being around Mama C and her daughter), “the memories you will keep whether you were laughing together or bickering and fussing, you were your own little comedy show and no one can ever replace or recreate that.” Having a zest for life and having fun no matter what she did was top of her list, and she did everything with panache. Her grandson, Shaun, said once years ago, and in a loving tone, that “she was displaced royalty.” Shaun’s comment always made her smile. Don’t forget Carol’s crystal blue eye that sparkled when she smiled!

Carol Sue Chamberlain was born on August 1, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri and passed peacefully on January 26, 2023, to go on her next journey. She is survived by her daughter, Celia Lee; twin grandsons Major Shaun Lee (USA Ret.) and Brandon Lee; Shaun’s beautiful wife Major Kristine Lee (USA) and their precious twins (Mama C’s great-grandchildren), Megan and David Lee. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 1:00-4:00 pm; the location will be announced in the invitation that will be sent out. If desired friends can make donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Alzheimer’s Association or the ASPCA in lieu of flowers.
