A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Virginia Hughes Scott, 87 of Decatur will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 5, 2023 at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Bishop Thomas D. Strong officiating.  Inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose 30 minutes prior to service. Public viewing will be Saturday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scott was born on April 23, 1935 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Maxie Robinson Hughes and Archie Hughes.  She departed this life peacefully surrounded by family on January 27, 2023 in Decatur, Alabama.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a devoted member of United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer, under the leadership of Bishop Thomas Durrell Strong in Decatur, AL where she served faithfully and she truly loved the Lord. She loved testifying and praising God through song.  Mother Scott enjoyed spending time with both her immediate family and church family.

She attended Morgan County Schools.  She worked as a custodian for Decatur City Schools for many years and thereafter was a senior companion.  In her leisure, she enjoyed shopping and collecting purses with the shoes to match. She also enjoyed talking tons on the phone to people about God’s goodness.

Mother Scott is now eternally reunited with both of her parents Maxie and Archie, her husband James Scott, her sister Liz Hughes and daughter Linda Nance.

She leaves to cherish her love and memory: her daughter, Brenda Bailey Rawls (Ralph); her son-in-law, Ronnie Nance; her five grandchildren, Lesunya Nance Carroll, Marcus Bailey (Charlene), Brandon Bailey (Siedyria), Ronnie Nance Jr. and Cecilia Nance Conley (Reginald); her ten great grandchildren Mailik, Monica, Amari, Terrance, Olivia, Dylon, Landyn, Jaeshin, RJ and Khalil; her three sisters, Louise Bailey, Earline Hughes and Doris McDaniel; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, cousins, church members and friends.
