Maroland Haskins

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a press release concerning the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with Robbery 1st as well as assault 2nd:

“On January 10, 2023, a homeless male in a wheelchair was in the pavilion in front of Rosie’s Restaurant on North Court Street when Maroland Haskins, also homeless, started a conversation with him.  Haskins then walked behind the male, acting as if he was throwing something in the garbage can. Once behind him, Haskins struck him in the head with an unknown object, causing him to fall out of his wheelchair. Haskins then jumped on top of him and told him to give him everything or he was going to shoot him. Haskins acted as if he had a firearm. Haskins then pulled the male’s shoe off and pants off which contained his money and fled with them. The victim then went to the North Alabama Medical Center for medical treatment which required several staples in his head to close the wound caused by Haskins.

Haskins was arrested yesterday and charged with Robbery 1st degree and Assault 2nd degree.  He is being held on a $62,500 bond at the Lauderdale County Detention Center. $62,500

***Maroland Haskins is presumed innocent until proven guilty***”
