F.1.19.23 Ronnie Ayers.jpg  Ronnie “Pops” Ray Ayers, 71, passed away on January 17, 2023. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Chad Holder officiating. Entombment will follow in Shoals Memorial Gardens.

Ronnie is survived by his children, Gina Ayers (special friend Mike), Allison Ayers Weaver (Derek), Kelly Ayers Owen (Ben), Allan Walker (April), Amber Walker Crews (Seth), Adamm Walker (Victoria); brother, David Ayers; grandchildren, Matthew Edger, Hunter Edger (Leanna), Will Weaver, Lee Ellis and Ryan Owen, Shelby Sweetwood (Cullen), Jacob Walker, Caleb Murphy, Jackson and Gavin Crews, Sam Walker; nephews, Brad Ayers (Shawn), Brooks Ayers (Kim), Jayson Ayers; niece, Tonya Ayers Cosby (Doug); and his beloved dog Skipper.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene “MarMar” Daily Ayers; brother, Bobby Ayers (Carolyn); and parents, Nelson and Lavenia Bryant Ayers.

Ronnie was born in Grand Junction, Tennessee. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 39 years. He was known as “RR” on the railroad and “Pops” everywhere else. Pops loved going to the beach and the Smoky Mountains. He was always looking forward to the next Alabama football game with an ice cream sandwich in hand.

Pallbearers will be Allan Walker, Adamm Walker, Jacob Walker, Caleb Murphy, Cullen Sweetwood, and Jeremiah Lang.
