Mr. Ezra Paul Davis, a resident of Madison, Alabama, passed away on January 2nd, 2023 at the Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Rubye Chapman Peters Davis; his father, Ezra Zemeriah Davis; his mother, Queenie Mae Brooks Davis; and his stepdaughter, Juanita Peters Prestridge; his brother, Raymond Davis; and his sister, Hosielene Davis Lawson.
Mr. Davis is survived by two stepdaughters, Lovette Peters Bennett Streets and Yvonne Peters Wesley, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Davis was born near Andalusia, Alabama, where he lived until the early 1950’s. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. He then moved to Montgomery, Alabama, where he met and married his wife, Rubye Peters. They subsequently lived in Tennessee and Georgia, before moving to Madison, Alabama.
Mr. Davis was an accomplished machinist. Even in his 80’s, he still enjoyed being active in church, attending Gospel Singings, and wrote a book “My Life on the Farm” about his early days growing up in south Alabama.
A graveside service was held for Mr. Davis preceding his burial at Stoney Point Church of Christ in Deatsville, Alabama. In keeping with his love for Gospel Singings, a memorial service will be held prior to a Gospel Singing at the Logan Martin Church of Christ he attended near Pell City, Alabama. The date and time for this service will be announced in the near future.
