Helen Maxine Scott Geis, 95, “went to be with Jesus” surrounded by the prayers of her loving family on January 11, 2023.

Helen was born in Hotchkiss, Colorado on January 22, 1927, to the late Max Scott and Martha McElvain Scott. She spent her early years and attended schools in Salt Lake City, Utah, Hotchkiss, Colorado and Los Angeles, California. On August 24, 1946, she married Walter P. Geis, and they made their home in Los Angeles until relocating to Huntsville in 1966. In 1973, they relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. After finishing their career in Cleveland, Ohio, they retired in Huntsville in 1983.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her beloved husband of 60 years, Walter. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Cynthia Geis of Huntsville, Steven and Sandra Geis of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Glenn and

Monica Geis of Huntsville; grandchildren, Shannon Geis (Damon Daniels) of Midlothian, Virginia, Leah Geis of St. Petersburg, Geoff Geis (Jenna Heffernan), of Chicago, Illinois, Peter Geis (Alison Fain Geis) of Madison, Alabama, Dr. Ian Geis of St. Petersburg, Florida; and Kevin Geis of Nashville, Tennessee; and great-grandchildren, Emma Daniels of Midlothian, Owen and June Anne Geis of Madison, and Finnis Geis of Chicago.

A Requiem Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Lunch will follow in the church activity room.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
