Grant WalesGrant Wales, 78, of Elkmont, Alabama passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Alabama. He was born Monday, March 6, 1944 in Alabama to Ronald Woodrow Wales and Margaret Pittman Wales.

Grant lived here all his life and was of the Christian faith. He was a sergeant in the Army before working as a switchman/foreman for the CSX railroad. The child of farmers, Grant realized early on his love for outdoors and working the land. Even in his older age, he spent as much time as possible outside on his property. He had a passion for antiques, especially old cars and tractors. Grant was an extremely humble and private person, but that didn’t stop him from going into town each day to chit-chat with friends, old and new. He was extremely generous and never hesitated to help others-especially his parents whom he cared for their entire lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Seybourne Wales.

He is survived by sisters, Linda Smith (Dewey) of Defuniak Springs, FL and Chrystal W. (Mike) Jones of Elkmont, Alabama; nieces, Ashley (Shantanu) Jones Sahai, Birmingham, AL, Ronda (Neil) Dunkley of New York, Ann Tankersley of TN, and Lea Anne (Joey) Thompson of Athens, AL; nephews, Jamie Smith of Lakeland, FL and Beau Jones of Gadsden, AL; great nephews, Grant Jones and Cohen McGowen who were the loves of his life; along with a host of extended family and friends.
