Mary Elizabeth Fordham, 98, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully, on Monday January 9, 2023, surrounded by family, and knowing she was loved. Mary was born and raised in Heflin, AL. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, William C Fordham Sr., son-in-law, Terrell Ragsdale, grandson-in-law, Stephen Anderson, grandson, Tyler Acklin, sisters, Mazie Welch, Myrtice Merrill, and Bettye Reid, and baby brother, W.B. Merrill.

Survivors include children, Bill Fordham (Susan) Huntsville, AL, Mary Joyce Ragsdale (Terrell) Huntsville, AL, Rita Ledsinger (Rick) Mooresville, NC, and Greg Fordham (Monica) Owens Cross Roads, AL, and sister, Lilian Wood. She was blessed to have seven grandchildren, Julie Mandy Chestnut, Kimberly Starr Ragsdale, Kristi Merrill Manning, Jenna Hope Chapman, Jamie Danielle Ledsinger, Cliff Ryan Fordham, and William Greggory Fordham, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Mary loved to cook, garden, quilt, and spend time with family. She was a godly woman who prayed for her family daily.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A small private gathering will be held for the family at a later date in Anniston Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks per Mrs. Fordham’s request, memorial gifts be made as donations to your choice of the following: National Children’s Advocacy Center, along with its partner “Village of Promise”.
