Mr. Nelson Reeves Sr. Mr. Nelson Carmon Reeves, Sr., age 92, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Lexington. Mr. Reeves was born January 20, 1930 in Henderson County to the late Bradley Carmon Reeves and Alma Douglas Reeves.
Nelson was a kind and loving family man that spent most of his life involved in his local church, The Pentecostal Church of Darden. As a 70 plus year member, he was involved in many leadership roles in the church. He loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart and was quick to tell someone about Jesus if he had a chance. Nelson was blessed to begin a farming operation at a very young age, where he raised cattle, swine, as well as producing crops such as cotton, corn, and soybeans. Meanwhile, he also owned and operated Reeves Equipment Company, which was an International Harvester Dealership in Lexington. Nelson truly lived life to the fullest as an avid outdoorsman, loved hard work on his farm and enjoyed meeting people through his business ventures over the years. Most of all loved his family, including his church family.
Survivors include his son, Nelson Reeves, Jr. (Angie); his daughter, Reatha Tharp (Philip); his wife, Billie Jean Holmes Reeves; step-daughter, Debra Casteel (Danny); brother, Hubert Reeves; two sisters, Judy Hendrix (Glen) and Bettie Jane Mobley (Henry); four grandchildren, Brooklyn Hudson (John Ross), Candace Boyd, Alyssa Lynn Reeves, Allyson Carmon Reeves; three great grandchildren, Greyde Ross Hudson, Lyndie Brooke Hudson, and Case Riley Reeves; five step grandchildren, and ten step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of over 50 years and the mother of his children, Mrs. Evelyn Mays Reeves and two sisters, Mary Lou Duke and Doris Mays.
His home-going service will be at 1 PM, Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Darden Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow in Darden Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Darden Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, 11 AM – 9 PM and on Wednesday, 9 AM – 1 PM.
