Johnny Wooten, 67, died peacefully in his sleep on December 23, 2022 at his home in Dennis.  Johnny worked in Chicago as a truck driver for 30 years and was then able to retire at the age of 48.  He was a fantastic father and pawpaw who was loved by everyone and would do anything for anyone.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on or fixing whatever was broken.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 30, 10 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Donnie Wooten officiating.  Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Vina, AL.  Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeannie Wooten; his son, Jason M. Wooten; adopted nephew, Shawn Struchen (Kelsey); his grandchildren, Whitney Hamilton, Hunter Hamilton, Alexandra “June Bug” Wooten, Drake Hamilton (Ruthie), Raine Hamilton and Pennelopie “Penny” Dudzik and two sisters, Betty Ybarra and Rebecca Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Wooten Hamilton; his father, Hollis M. Wooten; his mother, Tina Ivey Wooten and one brother, Nevan L. Wooten.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Wooten, Andy Wooten, Cory Wooten, Cody Wooten and Brad Wooten.  Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Hamilton, Drake Hamilton and Shawn Struchen.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
