Mrs. Carol Ann MitchellMrs. Carol Ann Mitchell, of Arab Alabama, passed away at Marshall Medical Center North on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at the age of 86.
Mrs. Mitchell was born on March 25, 1936 to Eugene Heber Wood and Eliza Evangeline Bland in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After living in Seattle for two years, and in Huntsville for 28 years, Mrs. Mitchell moved to Arab in 1980. She was married to Walter Thompson Mitchell and was a member of Arab Church of Christ. After retiring from teaching kindergarten for Arab City Schools, Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed organizing projects including refinishing furniture, and gardening. She had a passion for traveling, camping, and hiking and enjoyed planning trips. She loved to cook, and could often be found spending time with her family, and her dog, Mitzie.
Mrs. Mitchell leaves behind her sons; Dan Mitchell and his wife Teri, and Ben Mitchell and his wife Paula, grandchildren; Steven Mitchell and his wife Lauren, Laura Cook and her husband Josh, and Nathan Mitchell and his wife Hampton, and great-grandchildren; Harper and Owen Mitchell.
Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her husband; Walter Thompson Mitchell, son; Jonathan Mitchell, parents; Heber and Evangeline Wood, brothers; Gene and Tom Wood, and sister; Nancy Fohl.
A visitation with the family will be on Saturday November 19, 2022 from 9:30am – 11:00am at Arab Church of Christ. Services will be held at 11:00 officiated by Brother Ken Tyler, Dan Mitchell, and Ben Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donation be made in her honor to Arab Church of Christ mission work, The Robert Martin Mission Fund.
