Martha Elizabeth McNealy Stull died peacefully on November 10, 2022, at the age of 98. Martha was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on June 7, 1924, the eighth and youngest child of James and Mary Estep McNealy. Her childhood during the Great Depression taught her the meaning of hardship but never broke her unshakable spirit. On August 12, 1941, Martha married the love of her life, James T. Stull. Together they set a life standard among the Great Generation with moves to California, Hawaii and Alabama as Jim served in the military, and finally to Huntsville in 1960, where Jim worked for NASA. All the while, Martha was a loving wife, wonderful homemaker, and devoted mother to their three sons, Jim Jr., Terry, and Charles.

Martha was a master gardener who took great pride in her garden, including her fabulous azaleas and hydrangeas. She also volunteered her skills and time to the Huntsville Botanical Garden. She personally restored family heirloom furniture sharing her knowledge of our extensive family history. Her 98th birthday was celebrated this summer by children and grandchildren coming to Huntsville, AL, from around the country for a heartfelt tribute.

During 71 years of marriage sprinkled with love letters and poetry, Martha and Jim raised their sons lovingly with great pride. While they expanded their house over the years, they enjoyed bridge and golf. They mentored innumerable Boy Scouts who later visited them (including visiting Martha through her last years) and enjoyed many visits by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martha was especially grateful for the personalized care she received from her physicians Dr. Donald Evans and Dr. Thomas Wright.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved husband, Jim. She is survived by sons and spouses and their respective families: son, James T. Stull, Jr. and Kristine Kamm; grandson, Christopher Stull and Heather and children, Sicily and Maya; grandson, Nathan Stull and Yvonne Dutchover and children, Liam and Zoe; grandson, Travis Stull and Keren Gordham and children, Arrietty Hope, Travis Oliver and Eskarina Elizabeth; son, Terrence L. Stull and Dana D. Stull; grandson, Benjamin Stull and Sarah Sinray, and granddaughter, Lindsey Stull and Preston Seaberg; and son, Charles W. Stull and Jane Stull and her daughter, Sarah; granddaughter, Shannon Stull and children, Alexis and Makayla.
