FLORENCE-On Thursday, November 10 the Salvation Army of the Shoals held their Christmas Kickoff at the Sweetwater Depot.

Mayor Anndy Betterton of Florence And Mayor Steve Stanley of Sheffield were asked to select the first Angels from the angel tree and the first donation to the Red Kettle was made as well.

This year there are over 900 angles on the Angel Tree and more than 300 have already been adopted. The Red Kettle will be shooting for a goal of $150,00 this year. There will be a new twist as there will be a place to scan the code and make a donation to the kettle from your phone.  These donations will go directly to the Slvation Army of the Shoals.

Everyone was eager to get the Christmas Season off to a bell-ringing start and are hoping for a very Merry Christmas to all the citizens of TheShoals.
