Carrie Mae Tucker Decatur, Alabama ObituaryHomegoing services for Mrs. Carrie Mae Garth Tucker, 90 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Moulton Heights M.B. Church with the Reverend Tracy Seltzer officiating and Bishop Patrick Tucker eulogizing. Inhumation will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Carrie Mae  was born in the Moulton Heights area of Decatur, Alabama on February 21, 1932 to the late Bennie Garth Sr. and Laura Jean McKelvey Garth.  Mrs. Tucker departed this life on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at her residence after an extended illness.

She confessed a hope in Christ and joined Moulton Heights MB Church at an early age, where she also served on the Mother’s Board.

She retired from Operation Home after 26 years. Shortly after retirement, she went back to work at Noah’s Ark Daycare Center for five years.

Mrs. Carrie Tucker loved children, family, and her community. She loved to speak of the goodness of Jesus. She will forever be remembered for her willingness to cook and feed anyone. Carrie was also known for her amazing cakes, quick wit, an infectious smile and she always kept you laughing.

Mrs. Tucker grew up in the Moulton Heights Community where she met and married the Late John Henry Tucker II for 56 years. To this union 10 children were born and three preceded her in death; Delois Lampkin, Gregory Tucker, and John Tucker III.  Also preceding her in death are her parents and five siblings, Lela Moore, Percy Garth Sr., Annie Henderson, Bennie Garth Jr., and Louise Harris.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory are: her children, Mary Carter, Dorothy Burton, Wilma Cade, Marilyn Tucker, Annette Tucker, Larry Tucker and Ray Tucker; 18 grandchildren, a plethora of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Scott of Hempstead, NY, Doris Jones and Dora Tucker both of Decatur and several nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
