Mr. Max Edwin Nabors Max Edwin Nabors, 90, of Union Grove, passed away on October 29,2022 at his
residence.
Max was born to Mamie Graves Nabors and Judson Nabors on June 23, 1932.
He was married to Betty Whitlock Nabors for 40 years until her death in 1999. He is
survived by his son, Tim Nabors; daughter in law, Tammy Hawk Nabors; granddaughter,
Lauren Nabors Walls (Barrett Walls); great grandchildren, John, Emileigh, and Sarah
Walls; brother, Frank Nabors; sisters, Gaynell Waldrep and Ann Watson. He was
preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Nabors; sister, Shirley Dodd,
brothers, Ronald Nabors and Donald Nabors; and a very special friend, Martha Holloway
in 2007.
Max or Paw Paw as known by his family was known for spending hours in his workshop
each day making puzzles that he freely gave to kids and adults to enjoy. He had the gift
to build just about anything he could think up whether it be out of wood, metal, or
recycled items. Friends and strangers alike, often ask him to make a “part” that they
couldn’t find or was no longer manufactured. He loved for friends to visit him in his
shop so he could load them up with something he had made.
He served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper and also
worked at Walter Reed Hospital during his time in service.
Max accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 75. He was a member of Sweet Home
Baptist Church. He was blessed to celebrate his 90th birthday with over 100 friends and
family members in June.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 9:00am-11:00am at Sweet
Home Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 11:00a.m. Arab Heritage Memorial
Chapel will direct the services with Pastor John Policastro and Bro. Andy Brown
officiating.
Pallbearers are Barrett Walls, Garey Whitlock, Mike Ridgeaway, Kevin Hawk, Kenny
Whitlock, Mike Whitlock, Mark Ferris, and Jerry Willis. Honorary Pallbearers are Dan
Hawk, Don Hawk, Donald Hayes, Bruce Ridgeway, and The Friday morning breakfast
bunch.
