Sidney Lee Thompson Sidney Lee Thompson, 89, of Fort Payne, Alabama, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022. He was born February 7, 1933 in Fort Payne to the late James Ernest Thompson and Lucille Tiner Thompson. He served in the United States Army as a medical officer in the Third Infantry Division. Mr. Thompson graduated Auburn University School of Pharmacy in 1955 and owned and operated Fort Payne Drug Co. for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #437, the Alhambra Shriners, and the Lions Club and was a lifelong member of Fort Payne United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, October 9th at Wilson Funeral Home with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Fort Payne.

He is survived by his daughters Cynthia “Cindy” Thompson McDaniel (Frank) and Mary Thompson Schaunaman (Mark); grandchildren Jennifer Fong (Carlos), Garrett McDaniel, and Christian McDaniel; great-grandchildren Audrey and Lucas Fong; nieces Phyllis Wallace, Nina Haney, and Meta Grizzard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Faye Woolf Thompson and his brother James “Jim” Tiner Thompson.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
