It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our dear mother, Dorothye Lloyd, age 78 of Athens, finished her journey and entered her rest on Thursday, September 29th, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. Lloyd was born in Athens on July 7th, 1944, to Freeman Malone Sr. and Cora Yarbrough Malone.
Mrs. Lloyd is survived by her children Grannisei Doran Simmons (Amos Lamar Simmons Sr.), Catarshi Dentri Hart (Jeffery Hart), Karshibia Venisei Lloyd-Davidson-Tuckey (Christopher Dale Tuckey), and Phillip Michael Lloyd; grandchildren Amos Lamar Simmons Jr., Darian Jeshiah Simmons (Myranda Simmons), Italia Sienna Simmons, Tavauri Simmons, Paeri Jordan Simmons, Darian Burruss, Dakota Burruss, Dynasti Burruss, Xaneveya Porttisse Aveonna Davidson, Portteia Xaraiya Saahdjai Davidson, Zaria Sanaa Lloyd, Zayla Marie Lloyd, and Brandon Michael Lloyd; and great-grandchildren Durant Ezekiel Simmons and Briar Preston Whaley.
Mrs. Lloyd studied at Alabama A&M University and was in the Class of 1965. She was a quality assurance technician with Pilgram’s Pride, Inc. for over 20 years. Mrs. Lloyd was a member of the Church of Christ.
