Morris Edwin Ray, 96, of Huntsville, passed away Monday. Morris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo Ray and granddaughter Maegan Moore. He was born in Elmore County, AL the fourth of five sons. He spent his childhood near Lake Jordan working on his family’s farm until the age of 18, when he left to serve with the Navy in the Pacific during WWII. Following the war,

Morris earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. The majority of his professional career was spent as a respected leader at the Army Missile Command in the Product Assurance Directorate. Morris was known for his leadership and common-sense engineering skills.

Morris was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by daughter, Gloria R. Moore (Tom); and sons, Morris “Eddie” Ray Jr. (Becky), Jerry A. Ray (Kathy), and Randy J. Ray. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, September 30 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
