Mrs. Francis Cheri Smith Mrs. Frances Cheri Smith, age 81, of Union Grove, Alabama, went to be with her Lord Sunday morning – September 25, 2022.
Mrs. Smith was born to Velmer Buchanan and Marjorie Mentora Dodd Buchanan on February 12, 1941 in Marshall County, Alabama. She was married to David R. Smith who preceded her in death (July 12, 2008). Cheri was a devout Christian and prayer warrior. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him well. She loved her family and her church family at Union Grove First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith leaves behind to celebrate and reminisce her life; daughters, Laurie Burns (Eddie McABee) and Venita Smith; son, David D. Smith (Becky); sisters, Jane Peppers and Charlene Johnson (Dell); sister-in-law, Gayle Buchanan; Grandchildren, Ben Rimkus (Megan), Jessica Hicks (Andrew), Chase Smith (Courtney), Steven Clark, and Katie Gulledge; Great grand children, Khaleesi Rimkus, Carter Hicks, Koen Hicks, Lyla Smith, Raeleigh Clark, Emma King, Madalynn Gulledge, Kinley Gulledge, Emma Gulledge, and Brock Gulledge; Nephew, Josh Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Velmer and Marjorie Buchanan, Mrs. Smith is at last reunited with her husband, David R. Smith and brother, David N. Buchanan.
A visitation will be held at Union Grove First Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Funeral service will take place at Union Grove First Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. Bro. Greg Narrell, Bro, Rick Douglas and Gary Gray will be officiating.
Interment is to follow services immediately at the Union Grove First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Josh Johnson, Ben Rimkus, Chase Smith, Andrew Hicks, Steven Clark and David McAbee. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult #2 Sunday School Class that she taught for a number of years.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations be made to Partners For Missions at First Baptist Union Grove or to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
