Stephen Wesley Knight, 71, passed away on September 19, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

The son of Eugene William and Margaret Lovett Knight, Steve was born on July 17, 1951 in Haleyville, Alabama.

SFC (R) Steve Knight proudly served in both the US Army and the Alabama Army National Guard for thirty-five years until his honorable retirement in December 31, 2012. During that time, he served in combat tours with the US Army in Vietnam, and in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the Alabama Army National Guard. His awards include four army commendation medals, one army achievement medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, both the Global Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.

Steve is survived by his children, Stephanie White (Jamie), Zachery Knight (Allison), Wesley Nathaniel Knight (Tarcela) and his grandchildren, Kayleigh White McAlpine (Scott), Brant White, Adley Knight, Loden Knight, Alexa Knight and Eliza Knight. He is also survived by his siblings: Debbie Knight Brown (Nathan), Len Knight Luther and Phillip Knight.

Steve also leaves behind his special sidekick chihuahua, Harley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Margaret and brother, Greg Knight.

The family would like to thank Nancy and Gary Hammersley for their friendship and support.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Winston Memorial Cemetery, date to be determined.
