Celeste Moore of Montezuma, TNMattie Celeste Harville Moore age 93, passed away September 18, 2022 at Germantown Methodist Hospital.

She was born May 17, 1929 in Glen, Mississippi, and moved to the Montezuma Community at the age of 13, the daughter of the late John Isam and Dora Delitha Newcomb Harville. She married Joe Max Moore in 1944. They made their home at Montezuma.

She worked at the Queens Cup from 1969 until 1974, Bells Drive In from 1974 until 1976, She had also worked at Chicksaw State Park in housekeeping and for her brother Harville’s Lure and Manufacturing. She worked at the Country Pine Shop with her sister, Barbara, on Main Street in Henderson.

She and Joe Max were members of the Estes Church of Christ for many years and more recently, the Henderson Church of Christ.

Mrs. Moore is survived by a daughter, Judy Benard and husband Danny of Henderson; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and two close friends and caregivers, Betsy and Toni McClure.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Max Moore in 1999; a son, David Moore in 2022, four brothers, John Harville, Max Harville, Hugh Harville and Ray Harville and two sisters, Dot Richardson and Barbara Ray.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 24th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Billy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Montezuma Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM service time Saturday.
