Willard Ray “Flywheel” Dawson, 84 of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Smith, Bro. Jason Green, and his grandson, Nick Harville officiating. Burial will be at Sanderson Cemetery.

Born on February 9, 1938 to the late Anderson Otis and Annie Pearl Carpenter Dawson, Flywheel was a founding member of the Hatton Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Hatton Masonic Lodge No. 879 F.&A.M. for 51 years. Also a member of Sanderson Chapel United Methodist Church, Flywheel was saved on February 1, 1973 and then baptized on February 18, 1973 by Rev. Charles Richey at Calvary in baptistery to Sanderson Chapel.

Flywheel loved Alabama Crimson Tide football and basketball teams, Atlanta Braves baseball, and was a life-time ticket holder for the Hatton Hornets. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn and caring for his horses.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joyce Hayden Kerby Dawson; children, Tammy Dawson Bogle (McCoy), Pamela Dawson Armidano, Sandy Dawson Walker (Joel), and Brent Dawson (Laura); grandchildren, Nick Harville (Sue Ann), Cassidy Armidano McElroy (Austin), Jake Dawson, Gabe Armidano, and Josh Dawson; ; great-grandchildren, Zane Harville, Micah Harville, Aiden Harville, Izabella Dawson, Asher Cole, Ada Lee McElroy, and Wyatt McElroy; and nieces and nephews, Phyllis Thomas (Mike) and Connie Dawson (Marty).

Willard is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, William Paul Cameron; and brother, Price Lavern Dawson.

Pallbearers will be Jake Dawson, Josh Dawson, Gabe Armidano, Zane Harville, Micah Harville, and Aiden Harville. Honorary pallbearers are member of Hatton Lodge no 879 F.& A.M.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Brian Fletcher and staff and surgical team, Dr. Chad McElroy and staff, Dr. Reginald Gladish and DCI, Inc. of Moulton, Kindred at Home staff, Compassus – Serving with Heartfelt Compassion for End Stage Renal Disease.
